Artist statement

Drawing upon my life experiences and passion of observing people, situations, and my surrounding focus on channeling all of that through my work as a photographer. Utilizing the effects of lights and the way it lands on objects I incorporate it in most of my works. Time is another important element that incorporates it’s way into my work visually and conceptually. Medium is another important tool to my work in which its presented. Using a print medium over a digital medium is preferred for most of my works to give it’s true value the justice it deserves.

My current bodies of work utilize the effects of light and time sometimes together. The body series utilizes my experiences and fascination with the form, the texture, and concept of the body. Time plays an important role the texture of the skin and gives me a different result for each body and is portrayed to the viewer. Controlled lighting allows me to place certain areas in darkness and have certain areas illuminated revealing that which I’m showing to the viewer.

The abandonment series utilizes the elements of time and light. Light reveals the time element as it shows the landscape that was forgotten in time by the human element. Historical elements play a factor in this series of work as it is one of the main focuses. Placing myself in certain areas allows me to utilize the juxtaposition of my surroundings.
